You know, if what's happening in this country were in a movie, it would be classified as wild fiction. Do you ever wonder how people will look back at this period of our history 100 years from now? The fact that an American President threatened genocide, nuclear war, and the White House threatened the Pope/Catholic church - you can't even make this stuff up.
There is some good that's coming out of this. Last year, the people I follow started to see cracks - the beginning of an extinction burst. Dr. Heather Cox Richardson predicted that things would get bad and that something tragic would happen before May. MAGA is fracturing, and the cracks are getting larger. Some people drew the red line and the handling of the Epstein files, others the favoring of Israel and the handling of Charlie Kirk's death, the financial strain of trying to live, and now the war in Iran. Trump's possible mental decline is becoming more obvious.
That doesn't mean we should go and embrace the ex-MAGA and act like everything is hunky dory. I vacillate between total red rage and wanting to give people grace. I've researched cults a bit, and people who are waking up are very vulnerable, and how we react could drive them back into another dangerous cult. I've lost friendships over this Administration, and I don't regret burning those bridges.
