I'm back!!!!!! I took a mental health break after a death in the family, and I couldn't deal with that and stay tapped into the political climate. Some days I'm still waking up, hearing the latest, and feeling like I'm in an alternate reality.
I worked for several decades in the legal field as a paralegal and an investigator. I have NEVER heard of a Plaintiff suing themselves in a different "form" and then "settling" with themselves. Ya gotta admit he and his team are creative! And then, let's throw in the IRS immunity with a cherry on top.
Some days, you wonder if it's worth continuing to fight. The conservative Supreme Court justices are boot-licking sell-outs. Congress, especially Republicans, needs to grow a backbone - their careers are circling the drain anyway. If they oppose Trump, he will throw money to any opposing candidate (boot-licking is a plus) to eliminate them, like Thomas Massie. Not pushing back means your constituents are madder than a poked hornets' nest, which makes you wonder if it's worth that AIPAC money and ill-gotten stock gains.
Then I take a bird's eye view - Republicans are fracturing even more as controversies continue. The Epstein files (we can NEVER forget that), the economy (especially gas prices, housing, and everything else), the war in Iran, the "settlement" (most people see it for what it is - another grift), the rising deficit (if I hear another person say 'Trump is a business man' I will vomit), the unwanted data centers and ICE concentration camps, unfullfilled cell phone orders, the ongoing grift of the Trump family, the racism, the sexism, and him saying out loud he doesn't care about the American people. There are still brainwashed or hate-filled individuals who will continue to support him, but more and more people are seeing what we all knew - Trump is bad for America.
Congress may be drinking their milk to strengthen their bones - the Senate delayed the vote on ICE funding. A few Washington D.C. police officers filed suit to contest the "slush fund" "settlement" (party of law and order, my arse). There have been small local victories, too. And just in - Tulsi Gabbard is preparing to resign?! Kash Patel will probably also be a casualty since he doesn't fit in with the White, Christian Nationalist aesthetic.
We have to keep calling our representatives. We have to keep showing up at rallies. We have to keep writing letters and postcards. And we have to keep speaking to our truths. Mine is inclusivity, fiscal responsibility, and the right to healthcare, housing, and a full belly for all. Also, being there for my family, friends, and community, however I can be of support.
Thank you to all those veterans who sacrificed in the service of our country, and those people who love them. Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
